ROTARY DISTRICT GOVERNOR (6270) VISITS BERLIN ROTARY

Rotary International’s newly appointed District Governor (District 6270-southeast Wisconsin) Nancy Rhodes made a visit to the Berlin Rotary Club on Monday, August 1, 2011 during it’s weekly membership meeting.  Nancy is a member of the West Allis Rotary Club.

During her presentation she announced that this year’s Rotary International theme is “Reach within to embrace humanity.”  She reminded the club to reach within during their project to find a way to help with the International theme.  Nancy also talked about her goals as District Governor, which are family, continuity and change.  Family – she asked that the club members have a strong family atmosphere, which will lead to a strong community.  Continuity – the club should continue to keep focus on giving towards the eradication of Polio and new water projects in third world countries.  Change – Nancy reminded the members that change is hard for everyone, but without change we become complacent.

Nancy also spoke about the Group Study Exchange program in which the 6270 District will present several outbound GSE’s and receive several in return.  The GSE is a group of business leaders who tour other countries and exchange ideas.  Our area will receive a GSE from Italy, while the District is currently looking for volunteer business leaders between the ages of 30-45 for be part of a GSE bound for Scotland.

In closing, Nancy reminded everyone that the District 6270 Conference 2012 will be held for the first time at The Heidel House Resort in Green Lake, April 27-29th and encourages attendance from local Rotary Clubs.
