LIBRARIAN CARROLL VISITS BERLIN ROTARY

Berlin Librarian Christine Carroll provided the program “Library in today’s world” at a recent Berlin Rotary general membership meeting.  According to Carroll the Berlin Public Library was built in 1903 as part of the Carnegie Foundation.  An edition was added in 1976 on the old Methodist Church property.

With the advent of computers the library has changed with the times.  The library has several Internet stations that had over 15,000 visitors last year.  Wireless access is also part of today’s library as Berlin had 286 hits in August.  The library has also moved into the electronic age by providing books on MP3 format.  With the explosion of the Kindle, Nook & I-Pad Berlin Library has received requests for book downloads and has been able to provide them through overdrive.com.

With all the new technology, the Berlin Library would like to commend citizens of Berlin and the surrounding area as the library still sees over 10,000 visitors per month.

Berlin Rotary Club has donated the book "Polio, An American Story" by David M. Oshinsky to Librarian Carroll so it can be added into the library.
